Happy Thanksgiving! November 26th, 2008 . Weddings

Happy Turkey day to you all. I hope that everyone enjoys a day off to spend with friends and family. And since this holiday is all about good food, this is a great time to share pictures of this year's Highlands Culinary Event. This event is sponsored by the Highlands Visitors Center and is really a wonderful way to sample a bit of all our award-winning restaurants -- and the wines to go along with the food. So, let's see, there are great dishes to try, great wines to taste, an awesome band (HipShack- voted one of the best wedding bands around by Modern Bride), and fun people....what more could you want?? To see the slidshow, just click here or on the image above. Enjoy!

A Charleston Couple November 20th, 2008 . Weddings

Gray and Michael are a fabulously fun couple to photograph. I wish I'd had more time with them, but I like the shots we got....especially the ones right as the sun was setting. I really need to take the time to have some pictures of Tim and I done like this...I would treasure them.

I'm a lucky, lucky girl November 20th, 2008 . Weddings

Last week I was honored to photograph my friend, Chris (chef extraordinaire), as he realized a vision he has had for over two years. Chris is the sous chef at Madison's - here in Highlands. He had in mind to create a six-course meal highlighting the vendors he uses at the restaurant. The local farmers were allowed access to the kitchen to see Chris and the other staff create the meal using the produce, meat and dairy products they raised over the past months. It was thrilling seeing the raw, local ingredients become the culinary delights that graced the tables that evening. I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff, and how well they all worked together. Chris would stop, as time allowed, and explain the unfolding events to the farmers. In turn, during the second seating, Tim and I were honored to sit at the farmer's table and taste Chris' wonderful creations. It was- by far- one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Organic, local, and uber-fresh. I made many new friends and hope that this concept, farm to table, can find it's way into more American homes and restaurants. It was a great night! Thanks to Chris and his staff for the opportunity to participate in this very special event! It was cold and wet outside... But Madison's was warm and inviting. Woody and Cary (Barker's Mill owners) relax out front It was really a neat experience watching these guys work Look what the end product was....yum! (Eggs and bacon from Dave Taylor's farm) One of the prettiest salads ever... (produce also from Dave Taylor's farm) The farmers watched as the meal came together Some of Chris' tools Champagne Braised Trout (from Sunburst Trout Farms) Farmstead Cheese Sampler (from Sweetgrass Dairy) The man himself, Chris - looking good in his 'element' The entree...a taste of Farmstead Pork (courtesy of Dave Taylor) Possibly my favorite part of the meal.... :) The apples were grown locally on the Old Edwards Farm Some of the guests enjoying the evening To see the slide show, just click on the image above or the link here.
