I just HAVE to share... March 31st, 2008 . Weddings

I'm slammed right now and about to head out of town to Charleston REALLY early tomorrow. But I wanted to take a minute and share a recent session with you....baby C is a seriously cute (and photogenic) one year old whose parents signed her up for our Year in the Life package. All of her sessions have gone so well and really showed her personality. But this last one really shows how much she's grown and what a character she's going to be. If you have a minute and want to see the show, just click here. Have a hanky ready. I teared up and she's not even mine!!! lol I can't wait to see her finished album. It's going to be stunning! I love my job.

Do you feel like EVERYTHING is a priority?? March 13th, 2008 . Weddings

I know I have days where I do. But, according to Mr. Covey's 7 habits, that's because I allow myself to be controlled by things that are urgent, but not important. (Quadrant III) Boy, is he dead on with this one. (I'm thinking of having a shirt made that say "I'm a Quad III girl!") haha Here is a copy of the matrix so that you can see what I'm talking of.... matrix.jpg Important things have a payoff, an impact, some sort of strong consequence, but urgent unimportant things have the feeling of being important, but have no real impact on your life. Meetings, interruptions, most messages (this is what gets me) fall into this category. And if you spend your day in quads III and I, you'll most likely default into IV at the end of the day. However, if you spend more time planning (Quad II), you will see an immediate improvement. Try it. I know on the days when I am able to keep to my planning habit, I have a better day. Tomorrow, we'll talk about some real ways to prevent the message madness.

Also.... March 13th, 2008 . Weddings

I know I'm in the middle of organizational talk, but last night at our school we had a meeting that was sad and truly tragic. Recently a girl in our county died....at the age of 13. She was playing the choking game. Now I had never heard of such a thing, but it's real and our kids know of it. They most likely know someone who is playing it, if they aren't doing it themselves. I encourage all parents to take a moment to google the choking game and get up to speed on this behavior. It's not a warm and fuzzy topic at all, but you need to know what it is and what to look for. Once I knew of it, I began finding out of other children that I know of who had died or nearly died of this activity. PLEASE do not ignore this warning if this is new to you. You can handle it and you can be a force in your child's life. Much better than standing by and losing them! A site that has a simple explanation of the 'game' (I hate calling it that because it's anything but) is GASP (Games Adolescents Shouldn't Play). Take a look and then talk to your child. This is important ( a true Quad I activity).
